A short list, deliberately kept short.
We strip personal finance down to the fundamentals worth understanding well. That's the entire mission — no products attached.
Started from a simple frustration with volume.
Financial Minimalist began in Lucerne as a side project among finance writers who noticed how much personal finance content exists mainly to exist — new posts published on a schedule, regardless of whether there was anything new to say.
We wanted the opposite: a small, deliberately limited set of guides covering the fundamentals, kept current rather than endlessly expanded.
Three principles behind everything we publish.
Always free
Every guide on this site is free to read and will stay that way. We do not gate content behind sign-ups or paid tiers.
Information, not advice
We explain a small set of general concepts thoroughly. We do not review individual finances or recommend specific products.
No hidden incentives
Financial Minimalist does not accept sponsorships from lenders, brokers or financial product companies. Nothing here is paid placement.
Working out of Lucerne, writing for a wider audience.
Our editorial team is based in Lucerne, Switzerland. While some examples reflect the Swiss context, the fundamentals we cover — tracking, buffers, debt basics — apply broadly, and we keep terminology general wherever we can.
If something reads as specific to one country's system, we try to flag it clearly within the guide itself.
A note on scope: Financial Minimalist does not offer paid services of any kind, does not manage money on anyone's behalf, and does not provide licensed financial, legal or tax advice. Everything published here is general education. For decisions specific to your situation, speak with a qualified, licensed professional.
